Electron Microscopy Group

Research-Tomo

The group is heavily involved in the application of electron microscopy for the determination of materials properties in 3D at the nanoscale. The properties investigated include the geometric structure, but also elemental composition and optoelectronic effects, such as plasmonic excitations.

Specifically, the group employs conventional and bespoke algorithms and procedures to extract 3D information from electron microscopy data. The group research is particularly focussed at improving the efficacy of reconstruction methods, improving spatial resolution, enhancing signal-to-noise ratio, and minimising the number of necessary projections and the associated acquisition electron dose.
